Year End Celebration

We will combine this year’s graduation with the year end celebration.  Vice Principal, Mrs. Francine Feng, is hard at work coordinating with teachers on performance and programming.  Please feel free to contribute ideas and assistance to make this special event memorable and fun.
New Elective Course Coming This Fall
I’d like to announce a new culture class coming this Fall.  The class will be focusing on Chinese painting and modern art (no prior knowledge or training required) - one class for adults and one for students with 7th grade or higher.  The initial idea is to have a maximum class capacity of 6 & minimum of 3 to open the class.  Please find the attached PDF file for some artwork completed by the teacher.  Please help us spread the news about the class and sign up for yourself or your child.  If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Instructor Bio Info:
Mrs. Sinrong Chen earned her B.A degree specializing in Chinese Painting in Taiwan.  She is a resident of Westchester Co. and enjoys teaching art classes to her students.  I have known Mrs. Chen personally for years and think our community can benefit a lot from her expertise in Chinese Art.
Time:

NWCS Spring ’22 – Newsletter, Week 2 (03/12/22)

ear NWCS Families,
It looks like we are going to have some wet weather Saturday morning.  Teachers have been informed to communicate with students/parents if the class teacher would like to move from in-person to remote due to weather concerns in the afternoon.  Please check email communication directly from the class teacher.  Chinese school will be open for in-person sessions this weekend!
School Registration Record
There was a small technical issue with our school enrollment system before the semester started.  Now, the system has been fixed and functioning properly.  Please sign in and check if your child’s/children’s enrollment record(s) are correctly reflected in the system.  Also, if any tuition balance is still outstanding, please take a moment to double check with Treasurer (Mrs. Grace Liu).  Soon, we will start working on the financial planning for the new calendar year.  Your help is much appreciated.

NWCS Spring Semester Week 1 News Letter 3/5/22

Dear NWCS Families,

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the winter break.  This weekend (3/5) will be the first day of spring semester.  Classes will start at 9:00 am.  Please check email communication from each teacher whether in-person or remote learning.
New York State health department just announced new Covid guidelines very recently.  Briarcliff school district has announced the policy changes to make mask wearing as optional on school campus and kept social distancing policy is place.  Since our school has been in winter recess for most part of the uptick in Covid cases since late last December and many families commute from other parts of the tri-state area, I think it’s prudent to maintain the mask on and social distancing policy at least for early part of the spring semester and allow us to access the situation.
We really appreciate your continuous  support in every way to  support a healthy learning environment.  If any questions, please feel free to contact me.

No school on January 8th

Dear NWCS families,

Happy New Year to everyone.  Hope you have a wonderful holiday season.  Since we decided to postpone the Chinese New Year celebration and graduation until late Spring semester, school will not meet this Saturday (1/8).
Our 1st day in Spring semester is 3/5.  Teachers will communicate and assign some winter recess work to students.  Please supervise your kids to continue the learning during the break.
Wish you a healthy and safe winter break!

Postpone New Year Celebration

Dear NWCS families,

Hope everyone is well and has a wonderful holiday.  It’s a very difficult decision to inform you about the postponement of the Chinese New Year celebration on the last days of the year.  As you know, the rising Covid cases spread quickly throughout the country.  We will try to re-schedule this celebration and graduation towards the end of Spring semester.
With that said, there will be no school on January 8th.  We will continue to monitor the situation closely.  The first day of Spring semester is March 5th,2022.  Teachers will communicate via emails about homework assignment during winter recess.
Wish everyone a safe, healthy, and happy New Year!  See you all in 2022.

Dear NWCS parents,
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving break!  As we move along into December, the world is on paying close attention again about the new strain of COVID virus.  I like to reiterate the importance of mask covering and social distancing.  Because of everyone’s cooperation, we are very fortunate to be able to keep our school open and provide the best in-person learning experience for every student.  Really appreciate the effort by all of you!
This weekend, we will have the picture day for classes.  Counselor Kenneth Soohoo will visit each class to take some photos during the class.

Letter to NWCS Families

Dear NWCS Families,

I thought it important to let you know that our goal is to keep information flow transparent in a timely fashion.  I was informed that one of the parents had been tested positive with COVID this past Saturday.  The family was at school on the weekend of Oct 30 with masks on throughout the 2~3 hours inside the school building and didn’t come to school on Nov. 6th.  The PCR result for the rest of the family came back negative.  The family will undergo another round of PCR tests this Tuesday and self quarantine.

First, it is important to be aware that the mask mandate does prevent the spread of viruses.  With more knowledge and understanding of the virus, I urge everyone to stay cautious and exercise all steps necessary when entering into school building.  Now, we are entering the flu season so it can be hard to differentiate whether it’s a flu or something else in the early stage.  If not feeling well, please stay home and seek medical assistance when necessary.

At this point, because of the mask mandate and other measures in place, we will continue to keep the school open and keep monitoring the situation closely.   Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly either in person or via email.

Best Regards,
Rick Chan 詹文芳
